About MSI

History

Michiko Ohnaka Perry began her career working for Fuji Television in New York City in the early 1980s. Over time she became aware of a growing demand for interpreting and translation services, particularly in English and Japanese. Recognizing the opportunity that this need presented, she formed an alliance with the firm Shingijutsu to provide interpreting services. Now renowned for its pioneering work with lean manufacturing systems, Shingijutsu was then a newly formed consulting firm established by former Toyota engineers who set out to promote innovative production concepts and techniques. In 1987 Perry cofounded Media Source, Inc., a language services firm with offices in New York. In 2001 the company, renamed MSI Resources, Inc., moved its headquarters to Oak Park, Illinois.
